Goodbye 2008...

As the semester comes to an end, it comes a time to review everything that I have learned in the class. Not only did I become familiar with the blogging world, but I learned a ton about various programs and the media they create. From photoshop, to dreamweaver, in design and audacity, as well as windows movie maker, there is a ton to learn when it comes to the way to send a message to an audience. I focused my attention on the dancers world, and tried to attract an audience of dancers, teachers and choreographers; not only with my blog, but also with my in design, podcast, and movie. Whether you are a dancer or not, take a look at everything that I was able to do in the class.

fresno

We lost...but it was still a great friday night
It was anticipated to be the most important game since 1998. SJSU vs Fresno, rivals of the bay. Dick Tomeys most crucial game of his San Jose State coaching career. One of the deciding factors as to whether or not SJSU will be invited to a bowl. Final Score: Bulldogs 24, Spartans 10. And although that brings our bowl changes down to about 5%, there is still talk of the Spartans coming up from behind and receiving a bid...
On Another note...being at the game was an overall thrill. The Spectrums performed their final showcase of pregame and halftime with the marching band...and what a bittersweet feeling it was. Knowing that I would never set foot on that field again was saddening, but I was still ready to perform my heart out. The stands were packed with a sea of blue and gold. The lights were bright. Our costumes shimmered. The fans cheered and I could even hear whispers yelling "Go Katie". We danced "too hip to be square" and our game faces were on.
I still have one more performance with the 12 fine women of the 2008 Spartan Spectrum, at our showcase in December, and possible appearances at the Spartan Basketball games. But the Friday night game vs the bulldogs brought an end to my days on the Spectrum dance team.

Reno or bust

so...this past weekend SJSU played the Reno Wolfpack at reno, and the SJSU Spartan Marching band and Spartan Spectrum dance team was along for the ride. We traveled to Reno in busses and although the Spartans were defeated, it was still quite an experience. It was fun to see how many fans were there, and familiar faces in an unfamiliar place...and we had surprisinly warm weather in the sierras...and to think we were in the middle of november. From the tankk tops and shorts at the game, one would have thought otherwise. Reguardless, the band cheered on, the drummers drummed, the horns played, the flags waved and the dancers danced in RENO.

goldrush

did you know the San Francisco 49ers Goldrush Cheerleading team had a reunion show at the last home game, Sunday October 26?! Retired dancers of the SF Goldrush gathered on the field for the reunion show...they knew how to work it once, and they still have it!!

anyway you want it

The San Jose State University Marching Band made a tribute to California Rock n' Roll Classics this past Friday night at the football game vs. Boise State. Although the game was a misfortunate loss, the Spartan Spectrum Dance Team cheered the team on and danced to none other than the all time classic Journey. "Anyway You Want It" as played by the SJSU Marching band was in fact featured on the ESPN airing of the game, and the Spectrums recieved their 15 seconds of fame. The dane team and marching band will continue to cheer on the Spartans the remainder of the season in hopes to make it to another bowl game. The group will even accompany the football team to Reno in hopes to bring home another win, that will bring SPARTA just one step closer to the bowl!

new media project numero UNO

This was my most recent use of adobe photoshop. For the class project we needed to utilize the tools to creat a virtal halloween image. As I have always wanted to be a Disney Princess, it was an obvious decision for me to make myself into Snow White so... here it is!

a web LOG

After review of other blogs, I have noticed one reoccurring thing…that every blog has a theme. Whether it is education, photography, technology, a hobby, or a secret, all blogs are created for a purpose. I think that to be a blogger, the author must be well-informed and familiar in whatever topic they are blogging about. This is because a “weB LOG” is news. It may not be something that everyone is interested in or that people will necessarily read, but it is pertinent information to that specific blog. I think the 4 most important things that a blogger should think about while creating their space to bring respect to the blog are the theme/topic of the blog, the audience that the author is trying to appeal to, background knowledge to be able to display pertinent information, and catchy extras such as pictures in order to add appeal to the blog. I believe that all blogs have the potential to be an ever-changing source of information and new ideas, so long as the author frequently posts new information, and is up to date with the current mediums and technology. this was my favorite http://www.postsecret.blogspot.com/
